Session Descriptions
General Sessions
General Sessions are unopposed sessions that include four types of talks on a specific topic:
- State-of-the-Art: A State-of-the-Art presentation will provide historical perspective and breadth of content by providing an overview of the collective current understanding of a particular topic. Speakers have been given 15 minutes for their presentation and 5 minutes for Q&A.
- Cutting-Edge: A Cutting-Edge presentation will highlight recent advances in a specific area of research with an emphasis on novel data and concepts that substantially contribute to the field. Speakers have been given 15 minutes for their presentation and 5 minutes for Q&A.
- Oral Abstract: Highly scored abstracts will be presented as Oral Abstract Presentations. Presentations will include an oral synopsis of research data that enables the audience to efficiently grasp the research findings. Speakers have been given 10 minutes for their presentation and 5 minutes for Q&A.
- Abstract Slams: Presenters will have 5 minutes and 4 slides to present their research and explain why the work is important, provocative, and/or novel. The presentation will state the main question and briefly summarize the key result. The Abstract Slams are lively and fast-paced. Abstract Slam participants will also prepare a poster.
Eosinophils 101
Introducing a new session in 2025, specifically designed for Early Career attendees. This session will explore the fascinating journey of eosinophil research, highlighting key discoveries and providing essential context for the upcoming sessions over the next four days of the Congress. As an ice-breaker, it aims to welcome Early Career researchers and newcomers to the field, offering a comprehensive overview of the historical milestones in eosinophil research.
Lunch with a Mentor
The Lunch with a Mentor sessions are designed specifically for Early Career attendees. This unique opportunity allows participants to engage with experienced mentors in an informal setting. Each session will run twice, for 40 minutes each, giving attendees the chance to attend two out of the three available sessions during the 90-minute lunch break.
Participants will be provided with a lunch box while gaining valuable insights, asking questions, and networking with mentors and peers. This session is the perfect way to make meaningful connections and gather advice to help advance their careers.
Roundtable Discussions
Audience participation is encouraged during the Roundtable Discussions. Session facilitators will initiate the session and ask up to eight audience members to join them on the stage for a dinner-table-like conversation.
Rules:
- At any time, an audience member may join the conversation by sitting at the table. If the table is full, they may join by tapping the shoulder of a participant and taking their seat.
- Table members can leave at any time, BUT they must tap an audience member on the shoulder who then has to take a seat at the table (senior scientists are encouraged to ask younger scientists to join the conversation).
Conversation between participants and facilitators will continue. Facilitators will conclude the session by summarizing the main points raised.
Pro/Con Debates
Pro/Con Debates feature spirited discussions on key topics in eosinophil research. Each speaker will present their opening remarks for 15 minutes, followed by a 5-minute rebuttal. The debates will conclude with a 20-minute audience Q&A session and voting, allowing attendees to participate actively and voice their opinions. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear diverse perspectives from leading experts and engage in thought-provoking discussions that could shape the future of eosinophil research.
Technology and Techniques Session
The Technology and Techniques Session at the 2025 Congress is a new addition designed to showcase the latest advancements in eosinophil research. This session will focus on cutting-edge technologies and innovative methodologies that are pushing the boundaries of our understanding in the field. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn from leading experts about the most recent developments and practical applications of these technologies.
Ask an Expert Poster Sessions
Eosinophils present unique challenges, from their isolation in biological samples to their identification and application in advanced in vitro assays and innovative techniques. The 'Ask an Expert' Poster Sessions are dedicated to exploring protocols and methodologies in eosinophil-related research, led by experts in the field. Join these sessions during the Poster Presentations on Tuesday, 8 July, and Wednesday, 9 July.
Poster Sessions
Poster Sessions are scheduled to take place on the evenings of Tuesday, 8 July and Wednesday, 9 July. Poster Presenters will present an illustrated synopsis of research data that enables the audience to efficiently grasp the research findings. Presenters will stand next to their poster during assigned times and give brief, verbal explanations of the poster content. Heavy hors d’oeuvres and drinks will be provided during the Poster Sessions.
Abstract presentations will be judged on-site and awards for the best Oral Abstract, Poster and Abstract Slam will be presented during the Awards Dinner on Thursday, 10 July.
